TV has gone from bad to worse, and there’s truly no end in sight.
All that’s on are reality shows. And they’re all AN HOUR LONG! Sheesh. I don’t have the attention span for that.
The only bright spot in an otherwise desolate wasteland is Arrested Development re-runs on Channel 3. Tragically, the show was canceled ages ago. It’s as funny and
smart as Soap, the satirical sit-com of the late ’70s, and much less misanthropic than Curb Your Enthusiasm, but still edgy and uncomfortable.
Also, Extras starring Ricky Gervais isn’t half bad, although it’s pretty damn cringe-inducing most of the time, due to the fact the main characters are self-absorbed to an unusual degree and completely politically incorrect.

We are all saddened by the lost of a great show but I feel in 2009 our tears will dry with the surprise of a full length feature film. Let us pray!
Thanks for trying to lift our spirits, Matt. That’s what I keep hearing, too, so you’re not just blowing smoke. Just today, I read that Jessica Walter (the deliciously demented, gimlet-swilling, underminer matriarch Lucille Bluth) has confirmed she’s also signed on for the Arrested Development movie. But there are still some hold outs! Meantime, a note to local viewers: Channel 3 has long since stopped running AD re-runs at 5 p.m. It’s been banished to midnight. Adjust your late-night viewing habits accordingly.
Lucille: Give me a vodka on the rocks.
Michael: Itβs breakfast!
Lucille: And a piece of toast.
Uh oh:
